EU keen on working in cooperation with Ethiopia in health sector

Addis Ababa, February 23, 2023 (FBC) – The European Union parliament has affirmed that it is keen on working closely with Ethiopia in the fields of finance, exchange of experience, and provision of medical supplies.

Member of the Standing Committee on Health, Social Development, Culture & Sports at the House of Peoples’ Representatives of Ethiopia and the Chairperson of the Standing Committee, Abdulsemed Hussien, received at his office today the EU Parliament delegation, led by Kathleen Van Brempt, and held discussion.

Abdulsmed reiterated that Ethiopia will work together with EU to improve its health sector, especially in the areas of mothers and children, capacity building, exchange of experiences and provision of medical supplies.

Kathleen Van Brempt, Chairperson of Special Committee on Covid-19 pandemic and head of the EU Parliament delegation, for her part, said that EU will work in cooperation with Ethiopia to improve the health sector and address the challenges facing the sector.

The delegation’s visit in Ethiopia aims to foster EU’s cooperation with Ethiopia to address the health challenges faced by women, children and youth, Kathleen mentioned.

She expressed that EU is keen on working closely with Ethiopia through financing, exchange of experience and provision of medical supplies.

The delegates affirmed that EU will provide research-based assistance to the victims of the war in the northern part of Ethiopia, according to the HPR’s social media post.
