Federal Police vows continued law enforcement measures against remnants of TPLF Junta

Addis Ababa, June 26, 2021 (FBC) – The Federal Police Commission reiterated continued law enforcement measures against the TPLF Junta.

The Commission issued a statement on the killings of the three Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) staffers in the TPLF hotspots in Abi Adi, Tigray.

Two of the victims, Deputy coordinator of MSF relief works, Yohannes Halefom and his chauffeur Tewodros Gebremariam are Ethiopians while the remaining one Maria Hernandez is Spaniard, police said.

The government of Ethiopia has repeatedly called on humanitarians in the region to be escorted by military personnel while operating in such areas to avoid such tragic deaths by the terrorist group. However, some humanitarias have become victims of sporadic attack by the group for operating without escor of government forces, the statement says.

The Commission expressed condolences to families of the victims calling the international community and other concerned stakeholders to be cognizant such heinous acts of the Junta and stand in solidarity with the federal government.

Police further called up on humanitarians to work jointly with concerned government security forces in the areas reiterating continued law enforcement measure against the Junta.
