First phase Wereta dry port inaugurated

Addis Ababa, February 15, 2020 (FBC) –Built with 100 million birr in Amhara regional state, the first phase of Wereta dry port has been inaugurated today.

Minister of Transport, Dagmawit Moges and Chief Administrator of Amhara regional state as well as senior federal and regional officials attended the inauguration ceremony held this morning.

A delegation led by Major General Nesredin Abdi, Chief Administrator of Gedaref State, also attended the event.

The first phase, which was built on 3 hectares, will help import goods to the north-west part of the country from Port Sudan.

Wereta dry port raised the number of ports in the country to eight.

The country is also building a port in Dire-Dawa and planned to erect a similar one in Mekelle, Tigray regional state.
