Global Partnership for Ethiopia pays courtesy call to Finance Minister

Addis Ababa, June 8, 2021 (FBC) – Global Partnership for Ethiopia has paid a courtesy call to the Minister of the Ministry of Finance today.

Ahmed Shide, Minister of Finance of Ethiopia, has today met the consortium of global Partnership and discussed on upcoming plans of the consortium in advancing telecoms operation in Ethiopia.

During the discussion Ahmed Shide expressed confidence of the Ministry that the consortium would play a vital role in contributing to the growth and transformation of the digital economy in Ethiopia.

He further explained the global partnership will play an important role in enabling every Ethiopian has to access quality telecoms services at an affordable price.

Furthermore, it was stated that the partners in the consortium will establish a new operating company in Ethiopia, which aims to start providing telecommunications services from 2022.

It is expected this investment would bring to Ethiopia a total of eight billion USD investments over the next ten years and is expected to provide 1.5 million jobs to citizens in the next decade.
