International Holocaust Remembrance Day marked in Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa, January 27, 2021 (FBC) – International Day of Commemoration in memory of the victims of the Holocaust has been marked in Addis Ababa today in the presence of members of diplomatic communities and representatives of international organizations.

UN representatives and diplomatic mission including Ambassadors of Israel and Germany in Addis Ababa have also presided over the occasion of the holocausts remembrance day.

UN resident coordinator and UN Humanitarian Coordinator to Ethiopia, Catherine Sozi addressed the gatherings.

“As we remember those who died in the Holocaust and honour the survivors, our best tribute is the creation of a world of equality, justice and dignity for all.” Catherine Sozi said.

76 years ago, 11 million people including 6 million Jews were systematically and brutally murdered by the Nazi regime and its collaborators. And January 27 marks the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz death camp and victims of the holocaust.
