­LeBuna expresses interest to expand investment in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, June 6, 2023 (FBC) – Ambassador, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ethiopia to China, Tefera Derbew has met and discussed with Li Lin, President of Lebunna Group.

During the meeting the two sides have exchanged ideas of mutual cooperation of common interest.

They also discussed on possibility of engaging in Ethiopian investment opportunities and technology transfer.

Ambassador Tefera expressed his gratitiude for President Li and his group to be at his office and pledged any necessary support from the Embassy.

Ambassador Tefera urged the Lebunna Group to explore other investment area and promote Ethiopian coffee products in China.

He also appreciated the interest shown for transferring the experience of Lebunna’s Industrial park investment to Ethiopia and underlined the need for consolidated efforts to improve the lives of small farm holders.

The President on his part pointed Lebunna to be the largest Ethiopian coffee importer and to have plan to invest a coffee processing plant in Ethiopia. He also underscored the need to cooperate with the Embassy in areas of mutual interest and common concern.

Finally, Ambassador Tefera called upon the Lebunna group to bolster their coffee importing capacity and help the country gain foreign currency.

He also stressed the need to exchange experiences of the Lebunna group to its Ethiopian counterparts.

LeBuna is a company which supplies Ethiopian coffee to the Chinese market.

It is to be recall that the company signed an agreement to work together with XiaoKaXia, the Chinese digital promotion company.

Lebunna Group also conducts coffee variety study together with Ethiopian Commodity Exchange, ECX and Jimma Coffee Research Center that enhances the quality and value of Ethiopian coffee.

The company further conducts experimental coffee processing method to gain big market success in china.

Lebunna Group is among the earliest companies to invest in coffee sector in Ethiopia.
