Mekele Industrial Park on the verge of returning to full operations

Addis Ababa, June 17, 2023 (FBC) – The Head of Transformation Department at the Industrial Parks Development Corporation of Ethiopia (IPDC) Fitsum Ketma stated that Mekele Industrial Park is on the verge of returning to full operations following the successful completion of preparation works.

Fitsum reminded that IPDC has been working diligently by sending a team to Mekele city to monitor the status of the Industrial Park and undertake necessary preparatory works to restore it to full operations.

Following the successful completion of preparatory works, Mekele Industrial Park is now ready to go fully operational again, he confirmed.

After the signing of the peace agreement between the federal government and TPLF on November 2, 2022, IPDC’s team observed that the park was not damaged during the conflict and the property and machineries of the investors who entered the park before the conflict broke out remain safe, Fitsum disclosed.

Hence, the Official indicated that this finding is pivotal to put the park back into full operation and to bring back the investors into it, adding that effective activities were undertaken to bring in new investors to the park.

Following consultations with IPDC, the investors who entered the park before the conflict expressed their willingness to return to the park, Fitsum indicated.
