More than 1.3mln litters of fuel transported to Tigray region

Addis Ababa, January 11, 2023 (FBC) – Since the resumption of the transportation of fuel to Tigray region, until last Sunday, more than 1.3 million litres of fuel has been transported to the area, according to the Ethiopian Petroleum and Energy Authority.

The Authority’s Director of Fuel Supply, Logistics and Monitoring, Fikadu Shumet told Fana Broadcasting Corporate that 25 tankers of diesel and 3 tankers of petrol has been delivered to Shire, Mekele, Agula’e, Wuqro, Zalambesa and Quiha cities of the region.

The Official confirmed that 28 fuel tankers, each with a capacity of 45,000 to 50,000 litters, were sent to Tigray region.

The Authority’s Director of Communication and Public Relations, Bekelech Kuma, for her part, revealed that some 141,151 litters of gasoline and 1,189,923 litters of diesel, totalling 1,331,074 litters of fuel, has been transported to the region.

It was indicated that Libya Oil Ethiopia, National Oil Ethiopia (NOC), TAF Oil Ethiopia, Total Ethiopia, Dalol Oil, Halefay Petroleum, and Yetebaberut Beherawi Petroleum (YBP) have transported the fuel supply to the region.

It was also stated that NOC has transported fuel once from Gondar depot to Shire and the others were transported directly from the Djibouti port.
