Nejashi project envisioning Global Village unveiled

Addis Ababa, May 8, 2024 (FBC) – The Nejashi Zero Zero (00) Village project, with the objective of establishing a global village in Nejashi town within the Tigray region, was unveiled at the Sheraton Hotel in Addis Ababa on Tuesday, May 7th.

The public announcement of the Nejashi Zero Zero Village project took place in the presence of Sheikh Haj Ibrahim Tufa, President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Sheikh Adam Abdul Qadir, President of the Tigray Region Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, and various high-ranking federal and regional officials.

The event included the screening of a documentary delving into the historical narrative of King Negashi and his contributions to justice and peace.

During the event, it was highlighted that the choice of naming the project Nejashi Zero Zero signifies the historical roots and geographical significance of the narrative where Islam initially took root in Ethiopia.

The execution of the project will be overseen by the Supreme Council for Ethiopian Islamic Affairs, the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs of the Tigray Region, and the King Nejashi Reconstruction and Development Initiative (ARDI).

According to ENA, the tourist village will encompass various sub-projects including a museum, hotel, research institution, as well as health and sports facilities.
