Notable Ethio-American professor says the U.S. admin mishandling situation in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, August 17, 2021 (FBC) – The notable Ethiopian-American Professor, Brook Hailu told AMN that the current U.S. Administration is mishandling the situation in Ethiopia.

Professor Brook said that the Biden administration is trying to pressure the central government of Ethiopia in biased manner contrary to the longstanding diplomatic relationships between the two countries.

Ethiopians in all corners of the world have been disappointed by the unwelcome intervention of the U.S. Administration in international affairs of Ethiopia and the bias towards the rebel faction.

“That shouldn’t be that way. We Ethiopian-Americans and other descendants across the globe Love respect and cherish our country of origin although we are nationals of other countries,” he said.

Regarding the Diaspora Community Peace Corps, Professor Brook said: “We are building schools and supporting institutions to help the aspirations of Ethiopia to become middle income country,”

“Peace is important for every country. We focus on that. We appreciate the efforts of the government of Ethiopia to give peace a chance. Over the past two and half years, the federal government has offered many peace initiatives. But the outlaw TPLF went the other way around,” he explained.

The current government of Ethiopia has to fight to protect sovereignty of Ethiopia. The territorial integrity of Ethiopia should be kept.

Professor Brook noted that the government has not left any stone unturned to avert the war. But, the TPLF group did not reciprocate. The rebels should come to their sense and stop atrocities, he said.

TPLF is 46 years old but Tigrayas are living with Ethiopians for thousand years. The have to try to disassociate themselves from the criminal enterprise, he said calling other Ethiopians to morally support them in this way.
