OPP suspends three higher officials from Central Committee membership

Addis Ababa, August 10, 2020 (FBC) – Oromia Prosperity Party has suspended three higher officials from executive and central committee membership of the ruling party.

Head of Oromia Prosperity Party Office, Fikadu Tesema said the party has suspended Lemma Megerssa, along with another executive committee member, Teiba Hassen, and central committee member, Milkessa Midega.

Lemma Megerssa and and Dr. Milkkessa have been suspended for violating party discipline and failing to fulfill responsibilities, while suspension of Teyiba Hassen related to the unrest occurred at Easter Arsi Zone of Oromia Region, Fekadu explained.

In its two day meeting held at Addis Ababa, Oromia Prosperity Party party has evaluated strengths and shortcomings of the reform activities and passed decisions aimed to transform the changes in the country.

The party commended that the reformist leadership has widen the political scope and fostered democratic dialogue in the country since it came to power in 2018.

Various measures have been taken in line with addressing issues related to the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam and successfully accomplishing the first phase filling of the dam.

The positive outcomes gained through implementation of the Green Legacy Initiative have been recognized as results of effective leadership from the ruling party, according to Fekadu.

The party has attributed the Loss of lives and property in the region due to the recent unrest to TPLF and OLF-Shene, and vowed to defend instigations from internal and outside forces and maintain struggle for peace and development, Fedadu noted.
