Over 157,000MT of food aid delivered to northern Ethiopia during 2nd round operation

Addis Ababa, February 22, 2023 (FBC) – The National Disaster Risk Management Commission (NDRMC) announced that over 157,000MT of humanitarian aid has been delivered to people in need in northern Ethiopia during the second round of operation.

NDRMC Public Relations Director, Debebe Zewde said the commission is currently distributing daily food assistance with to 21.2 million people affected by various manmade and natural disasters.

The second round humanitarian aid delivery to the conflict affected communities in northern Ethiopia has completed 92 percent, Debebe said.

As of last December, 157,852MT of food has been distributed to people affected by the conflict in northern parts of the country, according to the Director.

Moreover, 1,316,848Lt of fuel and 2,090,104,761 birr has been sent to Tigray region, he added. The Director further called on relief organizations and international partners to address the growing demand among affected communities.
