PM Dr Abiy’s visit will elevate Ethio-South Africa ties to strategic level: Envoy

Addis Ababa, January 10, 2020 (FBC) –Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed’s visit to South Africa will elevate the ties between the two countries to a strategic level, said Ethiopian Envoy.

At the invitation of President Cyril Ramaphosa, the Ethiopia Prime Minister will pay a two-day official state visit to South Africa as of tomorrow.

Dr Shiferaw Teklermariam, Ambassador of Ethiopia to South Africa, told FBC by phone that the visit is expected to reinforce the relations between the two countries.

During his visit, the Prime Minister is expected to meet with President Ramaphosa and other senior South African government officials to discuss on different agendas, he said.

Ambassado Dr Shiferaw further said that the Prime Minister will hold discussions with Ethiopian nationals residing in South Africa.

Ethiopia and South Africa established diplomatic relations in 1994.
