Addis Ababa, October 16, 2020 (FBC) –The Federal Police Commission has vowed to work jointly with the community to ensure that there should be no groups that operate in an informal structure.
Commissioner General Endeshaw Tassew made the remark yesterday while briefing journalists on decisions taken at the end of the two-day conference of federal and regional police commissioners.
The 11th conference held in Addis Ababa assessed current national issues and institutional reforms of police force as well as discussed on plans for the future, the Commissioner indicated.
The conference came to a conclusion with decisions to consolidate ongoing police reforms, expand use of technology with police forces, join efforts with stakeholders and strengthen capacity building activities, he said.
Decisions have also been made to study the cause and prevent conflicts, stop groups operating in informal structure and to disarm militants, the Commissioner indicated.
He further said due attention would be given towards expanding community policing to carry out a successful community-centred crime prevention activities.
He said militias will be deployed in areas where federal and regional police forces could not reach. Training for police on the new doctrine will also begin this year.
