Wereta dry port to go operational next week

Addis Ababa, January 25, 2020 (FBC) -The Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Service Enterprise (ESLSE) said that Wereta dry port will go operational next week.

Ewnetu Taye, ESLSE Logistics and Terminals Deputy CEO, told ENA a total of 100 million birr was spent to build the first phase of the port on 3 hectares.

“Soon, we will have a new dry port in Wereta, which is very close to cities and towns located in north western Ethiopia,” he said.

According to the CEO, the dry port will help import goods to the north-west part of the country from Port Sudan.
Once completed, Wereta dry port will raise the number of ports in the country to eight.

ESLSE is also building a port in Dire-Dawa and planned to erect a similar one in Mekelle, Tigray regional state.
