Addis Ababa, December 26, 2023 (FBC) – The 2024 Ethiopian Cities Forum will be held in February in Wolaita Sodo town, South Ethiopia Region, the Minister of Urban and Infrastructure, Ms. Chaltu Sani disclosed today.
In a media briefing on the preparations ahead of the 9th Ethiopian Cities Forum, the Minister indicated that the forum will be held under the theme “Modern Cities for the Prosperity of Ethiopia”.
Ms. Chaltu said that the forum is organized by the Ministry of Urban and Infrastructure in cooperation with the South Ethiopia region.
She also stated that the main objective of the forum is to enable urban areas across the country to be progressive in the future by coordinating the actors of the sector.
Among the expected results of the forum are the mutual acquaintance of the cities and the identification of the potential of the cities.
The forum, according to the Minister, will not only help to maintain a healthy spirit of competition between cities/towns, but also cities with best experience will be recognized at the event.
Berhanu Zewde, head of the South Ethiopia Regional City and Infrastructure Bureau, on his part, stated that the opportunity given to his region to organize the forum is a good opportunity as the region is newly established.
He pointed out that since the forum has an important role in revitalizing cities, various preparations are being undertaken to achieve the expected goal.
It is known that the Ethiopian Cities Forum has been celebrated eight times so far.
