An Ethiopian-American brings off-grid internet solution home to rural remote schools

Addis Ababa, December 31, 2021 (FBC) – Mideksa Beyene, an Ethiopian-American has brought an off-grid internet solution home to remote schools’ e-learning purpose over the #GreatEthiopianHomeComing Challenge.

The solar powered technology which has its own Wi-Fi system is equipped with a 2 terabyte server and can be connected with cell phones and computers to provide e-learning in remote schools that have no access to internet service.

Furthermore, the off-grid internet solution has been uploaded with more than 60,000 e-books while ICT experts are working to readjust its adaptability for local use.

The government called on the Diaspora to follow examples of Mideksa and support efforts under way to advance the education system.
