Celebration of Timket underway across Ethiopia
Addis Ababa, January 19, 2025 (FMC) — The Timket festival, also known as Ethiopian Epiphany, is being celebrated across the country in the presence of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church and the Ethiopian Catholic Church faithful, as well as senior government officials and international tourists.
Colorful celebration of Timket commenced early this dawn in Addis Ababa, Gonder, Iranbuti, Lake Batu’s Dembel islands, among others.
Note that the eve of Timket, also known as Ketera, was also observed yesterday with the Holy Tablets were placed to their designated spots for today’s celebration.
Recall that the FDRE President Taye Atske-Selassie led a high-level federal government delegation for the Celebration of Timket in the historic northern city of Gonder where thousands of international and local tourists have also traveled to to attend the colorful celebration of Ethiopian Epiphany in the city.
