Construction underway for forensic investigation training institute: Police University

Addis Ababa, May 22, 2023 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Police University announced that it is building a facility that will be used to provide forensic investigation training at home.

The Ethiopian Police University stated that the construction of a forensic institute is being carried out with a budget of 1 billion 282 million birr.

Commander Sintayehu Legesse, acting manager of the project indicated that the construction of the institute is part of the efforts to build a modern police force in the country.

Construction of the training institute will be completed within two and a half years, it was state.

The facility is crucial to carry out multi-disciplinary scientific investigations, verify facts and identify criminals and make them accountable, the Police University said.

Upon completion, the institute will provide training in various fields including fingerprint analysis, document examination, DNA examination, among others.
