Ethio telecom obtains over 22 bn birr in revenue in six months

Addis Ababa, January 15, 2020 (FBC) -Ethio telecom announced a revenue of 22.04 billion birr in revenue in the first half of this Ethiopian fiscal year, achieving 104% of the target.

The revenue secured in the period that runs from July 1-December 31, 2019 surpassed by 32% compared to the same period the previous year, the Company.

About $73 million foreign currency was generated from international business, showing an increase of 116% from last year, it added.

The number of subscribers reached 45.6m. Mobile voice subscribers hit 44.03m, data and Internet users 22.74m and fixed services 1.01m, it added.

It also increased the number of 3G customers by 759,741 and 2G clients by 170,737.

“Preparation for 4G network expansion in Addis Ababa, regional capitals and other major cities is also underway,” it added.
