Ethiopia and Djibouti form joint task-force to tackle cross-border anti-peace activities
Addis Ababa, December 23, 2024 (FMC) – The security agencies of Ethiopia and Djibouti have announced the formation of a joint task force aimed at addressing anti-peace activities occurring along their shared borders.
This collaborative effort will focus on reconnaissance operations, the extradition of criminals, and information exchange to counteract the activities of insurgents in the region.
A delegation led by General Hassan Said Kaira, the Director of the Security Documentation Service of Djibouti, recently visited Ethiopia for official talks with senior officials from the National Intelligence and Security Service. Ambassador Redwan Hussein, the Director General of the service, along with other key leaders, engaged in discussions to deepen their security cooperation.
The agenda centered around enhancing collaboration on common security concerns, thereby contributing to regional stability. Both countries emphasized the need to strengthen efforts against cross-border crimes, particularly in the areas of human and arms trafficking, as well as to curb illegal immigration.
Additionally, negotiations were held regarding security measures essential for managing Ethiopia’s trade activities through the port of Djibouti.
