Ethiopia confirms 109 more COVID-19 cases, 118 recoveries in 24 hours

Addis Ababa, June 16, 2020 (FBC) –The Ministry of Health has confirmed 109 new COVID-19 cases from 5, 102 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases in Ethiopia to 3, 630.

The new cases reported today are all Ethiopians, with 60 being males and 49 females. The youngest is one year old and the oldest 78 year.

From the 109 cases, Addis Ababa has 81 cases, Oromia 9, Somali and SNNP 4 cases each, Amhara, Tigray and Afar 3 cases each and Harari 2 cases.

A 45-year-old woman from Addis Ababa also died of the virus in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths to 61, the Ministry said.

The Ministry also reported that 118 more patients have recovered from the virus, taking the total number of recoveries to 738.

There are now a total of 2,829 active cases in Ethiopia, with 32 of them in a severe condition. The total number of tests conducted so far stands at 192, 087.
