Ethiopia, Côte d’Ivoire discuss ways to deepen their bilateral relationship

Addis Ababa, November 30, 2022 (FBC) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, Shitaye Minale has presented on Tuesday copies of her credentials to Kandia Kamissoko Camara, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and the Diaspora of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire.

During their meeting, the two sides discussed the bilateral relations and ways to further consolidate the historical relationship between Ethiopia and Côte d’Ivoire.

Ambassador Shitaye further briefed the Ivorian Foreign Minister about the current situation in Ethiopia mainly the recent Cessation of Hostilities agreement reached between the FDRE Government and the TPLF.

She underlined that the peace agreement brings about calmness and stability in the northern part of the country. She has also reaffirmed the FDRE Government’s commitment for the implementation of the agreement and its ongoing endeavor in providing humanitarian aid, and reinstating infrastructures and services in conflict-affected regions.

Kandia Kamissoko Camara, on her part, praises the peace agreement and assures Côte d’Ivoire’s, and particularly the leadership of President Alassane Ouattara, continuous support to the interest of all Ethiopian people.

She particularly mentioned the mutual support that the two countries have recently expressed each other during their respective challenging times.

In the same note, Ambassador Shitaye affirmed that the Ethiopian Government cherishes the solidarity of the brotherly people and Government of the Republic of Cote d’Ivoire in any situation.

The two sides emphasized the need to strengthen African brotherhood, boost economic cooperation and deepen relationship at bilateral, regional and multilateral for a between the two nations.
