Ethiopia Diaspora Agency shares experiences with Indian counterparts

Addis Ababa, April 16, 2022 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Diaspora Agency concluded its five days study visit in India which was held from April 11-15, 2022. The delegation including experts from GIZ-Ethiopia was led by the Deputy Director of the Agency Dr. Mohammed Endris.

The visit was aimed at sharing experiences and exchanging views with similar Indian organizations that deal with the diaspora citizens.

The delegation met with various stakeholders including Manika Jain, Additional Secretary for Overseas Indian Affairs at the Ministry of External Affairs of the Government of India, as well as with Srikar Reddy, Joint Secretary for Foreign Trade, Africa Division at the Department of Commerce, Ministry of External Affairs, and discussed on issues of diaspora engagement strategies, government management approaches, diaspora investment & trade incentives, diaspora knowledge and technology transfer, diaspora mapping and diaspora data & information management systems by the government.

The delegation also held discussions with officials from Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to discuss diaspora remittance management and money transfer mechanisms, and engaged with the Foreign Cooperation Department of the State of Haryana and held talks and experience sharing with Indian diaspora investors.

Ambassador Tizita Mulugeta received the delegation at her office and deliberated on the works of the Agency and its efforts to enhance the participation and engagements of the Diaspora in national developments.
