Ethiopia export earnings increased by 13 percent

Addis Ababa, July 21, 2020 (FBC) – The export earnings of Ethiopia during the concluded budget year has increased by 13 percent surpassing the achievement registered during the previous year.

The Ministry of Trade and Industry stated that Ethiopia has secured more than 3 billion US Dollars of which 77 percent is generated from agricultural commodities export.

Income from export of coffee, flower, cereals, oil seeds, Khat, fruits and vegetables has contributed to the increment.
The income of the country from meat and gold has also increased compared to the previous fiscal year.
Some 20 percent of the income is generated from export of manufactured goods and minerals, the ministry said.

Activities undertaken in line with institutional integration, expanstion of infrastructure and anti-covid 19 measures have played a crucial role for the increase export earnings.
