Ethiopia, Iran agree to boost economic cooperation through joint economic commission

Addis Ababa, January 17, 2025 (FMC) – Ethiopia and Iran agreed to work through a joint economic commission to explore the full potential of their economic cooperation, according to the Ethiopian foreign ministry.

Potential avenues for further cooperation between the two BRICS member countries in multifaceted domains was on the agenda during a discussion between State Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Ambassador Mesganu Arga, and a delegation led by the Deputy for Consular, Parliamentary, and Iranians Affairs’ Abroad of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Vahid Jalalzadeh.

During the discussion held in Addis Ababa today, State Minister Ambassador Mesganu mentioned that the two parties could collaborate on economic cooperation in the fields of agriculture, mining, manufacturing, science and technology, food processing and cement, among others.

The two sides have agreed to work through a joint economic commission to explore the full potential of their economic cooperation.

They have also agreed to further cooperate in the South-South Cooperation framework, As reported by MFA Ethiopia.
