Ethiopia, Israel sign agreement to work closely in water and energy sector
Addis Ababa, February 4, 2025 (FMC) – Ethiopia and Israel today signed an agreement to work closely in the fields of water resources and energy development.
The agreement was signed by Ethiopia’s Minister of Water and Energy Engineer Habtamu Ittefa and Israeli Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Eli Cohen in Addis Ababa, according to the Ethiopian water and energy ministry.
During the signing ceremony, Habtamu Ittefa identified groundwater exploration and extraction, wastewater treatment technologies, and renewable energy development as areas for potential cooperation between the two countries.
According to him, these domains present ideal opportunities for both sides to work more closely, especially in the implementation of solar power generation projects in rural areas.
On his part, Israeli Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Eli Cohen said that under the agreement, Israeli institutions can be involved in capacity building and knowledge transfer, water and energy development and achieve results.
