The agreement was signed by the Minister of State for Finance, Semerita Sewasew, and the Japanese Ambassador to Ethiopia, Ito Takako.

$19.2 million of the support will be used for the implementation of drinking water projects in small towns, according to the Ministry of Finance-Ethiopia.

The Ministry further indicated that the remaining $4.8 million will be used to purchase 2,500 metric tons of soil fertilizer.

It is said that more than 47,000 households in small and rural towns will benefit from the drinking water project.

It is believed that the financial support for the procurement of soil fertilizer will contribute to alleviate the worldwide hike in price of soil fertilizer.
