Ethiopia officially launches COVID 19 ComBAT campaign in Dire Dawa City

Addis Ababa, August 14, 2020 (FBC) – Ethiopia has officially launched COVID 19 ComBAT campaign in Dire Dawa City in the presence of high ranking government officials and WHO representatives.

The ComBAT campaign is a nationwide community mobilization and testing and prevention campaign initiated by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to curb the spread of the pandemic through active public participation.

The community based mobilization is expected to address hundred thousands of citizens in all parts of the country through coronavirus testing, screening and surveillance activities.

WHO country representative to Ethiopia, Dr. Boureima Sambo said the campaign is instrumental in Ethiopia’s COVID 19 response efforts.

Besides undertaking a wide range of testing people for the virus, the mobilization is expected to serve as a national platform to create public awareness among the community on ways of protecting the spread of the pandemic.
