MoH, IPDC mull over manufacturing of import-substitute vaccines worth over $100mil in Kilinto IP

Addis Ababa, March 30, 2023 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Ministry of Health and Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC) discussed ways to start manufacturing of import substitute vaccines in Kilinto Industrial Park.

Chief Executive Officer of Industrial Parks Development Corporation Aklilu Tadese and Dr. Liya Tadese, FDRE’s Minister of Health have discussed on the common issues that enable production of vaccines in Kilinto Industrial Park.

According to IPDC, a consensus has been reached in order to save the cost of more than 100 million dollars that Ethiopia spends on the purchase of vaccines every year.

IPDC addedthat the two side also agreed to produce and replace the vaccines in Klinton Industrial Park in Ethiopia.

It is stated that Kilinto Industrial Park, built on 279 hectares of land, is dedicated for pharmaceutical sector for investors who are engaged in the production of medical supplies and medicines, and currently more than 14 investors are working in the sector.
