Ethiopia reaffirms continued collaboration with China to promote peace, dev’t in HOA

Addis Ababa, March 15, 2023 (FBC) – Ambassador Mesganu Arga, State Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reaffirmed that Ethiopia is committed to continue working with China to promote peace and development in the region

Mesganu Arga met with Xue Bing, China’s Special Envoy to the Horn of Africa, to discuss bilateral and regional issues of mutual concern.

During the meeting, Mesganu expressed gratitude to China for its commitment to global peace and security architecture in general and the Horn of Africa, in particular.

The State Minister also reiterated Ethiopia’s commitment to fully implement the Pretoria Peace Deal. Besides, he extended his request for China’s assistance in the reconstruction and rehabilitation process, as well as humanitarian supply, while also thanking China for its support to Ethiopia in the UNSC.

Mesganu informed the Chinese envoy of Ethiopia’s full support to China’s territorial integrity. He expressed Ethiopia’s interest in strengthening ties with China to attract Foreign Direct Investment and create infrastructure in order to bring economic empowerment to the country.

For his part, Xue Bing underlined China’s support for the peace process and its respect for the dictum: “African Solutions for African Problems”.

Several critical problems of mutual importance in bilateral, regional, and global matters were discussed by both parties, as per MFA Ethiopia.
