Ethiopia receives 12 expressions of interest for two telecom licenses

Addis Ababa, June 26, 2020 (FBC) –The Ethiopian Communications Authority (ECA) said it has received 12 expressions of interest for two telecommunication licenses.

The authority launched expression of interest process on May 21st, 2020 and prospect bidders were given one month to submit their interest.

On the closing date of June 22nd, 2020, it received 12 submissions, of which 9 are telecom operators and 2 are non-telecom operators and 1 incomplete submission.

The companies that have expressed interest include consortium of Vodafone, Vodacom, and Safaricom, Etisalat, Axian, MTN, Orange, Saudi Telecom Company, Telkom SA, Liquid Telecom, Snail Mobile, and Kandu Global Telecommunications and Electromecha International projects.
