Ethiopia receives 45mln Birr worth of medical supplies aid to prevent malaria

Addis Ababa, October 27, 2022 (FBC) – Ministry of Health-Ethiopia (MoH) received medical supplies aid worth of 45 million Birr to strengthen the government’s efforts in preventing and controlling malaria.

The Ministry confirmed that the support was provided by ICAP/Ethiopia and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

According to the Ministry, the support will be used in health facilities in six regions for the efforts to prevent and control malaria.

When receiving the supplies, Minister of State at MoH, Dr. Dereje Dhuguma, stated that the support of governmental and non-governmental institutions is effective in the efforts to prevent, control and eliminate malaria.

Timothy Stein, director of the USAID Ethiopia, said that their partnership with the Ministry in fighting malaria will continue to be strengthened.

Director of ICAP Ethiopia, Dr. Zenebe Melaku, expressed his delight for providing the support.

The support includes 550 microscopes and 50 different laboratory equipment used for testing.

It is indicated that certain amount of the aid will be sent to health facilities affected by the conflict.
