Ethiopia takes part in 2023 Oregon Specialty Coffee Expo

Addis Ababa, April 29, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopian Coffee exporters, farmers, roasters and others engaged in the sector participated at the 2023 Oregon, Portland Specialty Coffee Expo.

FBC understands that Ethiopia’s specialty Coffee exhibition booth was opened by officials from Ministry of Agriculture, Ethiopian coffee and Tea Authority and the Ethiopian Coffee Association.

The overview of Ethiopian coffee, the achievement of production and productivity, the ease of doing business was presented by Director General of ECTA, Adugna Debela.

Ethiopian coffee production, processing and scientific way of keeping its quality was also presented by Kasaye Tolosa.

The first session of coffee cupping was done by the cupper and many buyers engaged in this session and tasted Ethiopia’s different distinctive flavors and aromas.

The participants also held fruitful discussions with AICO and AFCA board members where by Ethiopia will host the two conferences and exhibitor in February 2024 titled “Ethiopian coffee week”.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between IllyCaffe and Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority to collaborate in training and capacity building of employees in coffee cupping.

Thousands of coffee buyers, roasters, technology companies, and others involved in the coffee business visited Ethiopian booth and showed keen interest establishing strong ties.
