Ethiopia to host first Pan-African AI Conference in October

Addis Ababa, September 7, 2022 (FBC) – Press Secretariat of the Office of the Prime Minister, Billene Seyoum said in a tweet that Ethiopia is going to host the first Pan-African Artificial Intelligence (AI) Conference in October 2022.

Billene indicated that the AI Conference will take place at the new Museum of Art and Science in Addis Ababa.

Heads of states, ministers and computer scientists from various countries of Africa and the world at large are expected to converge in Addis Ababa in October for the first major continental AI conference.

The conference is organized by the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute in collaboration with HAWK University, Chapa Financial Technologies S.C and Presight.ai.

The conference has identified six thematic areas as its primary focuses including public services, cyber-security, agriculture, public health, geographic information system and Trustworthy and Ethical.

Ethiopia is often considered by many as one of the continent’s leading hubs for artificial intelligence.

Addis Ababa has experience in welcoming large international delegations for it is the seat of the continental organization and international organizations including the African Union and the UN Economic Commission for Africa.
