Ethiopian Airlines honors life, legacy of former CEO Captain Mohammed Ahmed

Addis Ababa, January 18, 2025 (FMC) – Ethiopian Airlines held a heartfelt memorial service to honor the life and legacy of our former CEO, Captain Mohammed Ahmed, who recently passed away. In tribute to his remarkable contributions, a memorial plaque has been erected on the airline’s premises.

The late Captain Mohammed Ahmed, a pioneering force in the aviation industry and a cherished leader of Ethiopian Airlines, leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire future generations.

Captain Mohamed’s impact extended far beyond the borders of Ethiopia, the Ethiopian Airlines said. He served as the secretary General of the African Airlines Association (AFRAA) for a decade, where he played a crucial role in fostering cooperation among African carriers. He also served as a member of the nominating and executive committees of International Air Transport Association (IATA). His leadership on these international platforms helped elevate the profile of African airlines globally.

Captain Mohammed’s visionary leadership and dedication will forever be remembered by the Ethiopian Airlines leadership, management, and staff, as his efforts laid a strong foundation for the airline’s growth and success, the Airlines underscored.
