Ethiopia’s COVID-19 cases raise to 1,934

Addis Ababa, June 6, 2020 (FBC) –Some 129 more people tested positive for coronavirus today, raising the country’s total confirmed cases to 1,934.

The new cases were identified out of 5,500 samples tested in the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health.

The total number of tests conducted since the onset of the virus now stands at 136, 886.

Of the total new confirmed cases, 75 are male and 54 are female aged between one and 90 years.

Some 124 of the confirmed cases are Ethiopians, while the remaining are South African, UAE, US, Eritrean and Sudanese citizens.

Of the new cases, 101 are from Addis Ababa, 10 from Amhara, 6 from Somali, 5 each from Tigray and Oromia and one each from Harari and Gambella regional states.

The country recorded one more death in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of fatalities to 20.

Some 19 people have also recovered from the virus, raising the total number of recoveries so far to 281.

There are now a total of 1,631 active cases in Ethiopia, with 27 of them in a severe condition.
