Federal Housing Corporation signs agreement with Wanco Italy
Addis Ababa, January 21, 2025 (FMC) – The Federal Housing Corporation of Ethiopia (FHC) today confirmed that it has signed an agreement with the Italian company Wanco Italia to install a large prefabricated housing factory that will modernize the housing construction process in the country.
The agreement is believed to provide the corporation with construction technology that will enable it to build buildings swiftly and efficiently.
It was also noted that it will enable the corporation to install a large prefabricated house factory that will modernize the housing construction method in the East African nation. The construction technology will also greatly help the Federal Housing Corporation in its efforts to modernize the construction sector.
The technology from Wanco Italia is said to be capable of building one floor of a building per day and can be used to build skyscrapers, including villas, in a short time.
Federal Housing Corporation CEO Mr. Reshad Kemal said that his corporation is currently making efforts to utilize modern construction technologies that will enable it to implement the principles of time, speed and effective budget utilization.
Mr. Reshad said that the corporation has been conducting scientific research and necessary preparations to bring Wanco Italia’s prefabricated housing construction technology to Ethiopia.
The CEO also noted that a large-scale input manufacturing plant was recently inaugurated in Addis Ababa to ensure a reliable supply of inputs for the assembly plant.
Mr. Reshad Kemal said that the corporation will continue its efforts to address housing demands in the country by adopting such construction technologies, adding that the necessary preparations have been completed to accomplish the factory installation in a short time and put it into operation.
Mr. Massimo Busnelle, CEO of Wanco Italia, said that they chose the state-owned FHC to work together in line with the effective housing development programs and effective work performance that the corporation is implementing.
Mr. Massimo said that his company is ready to carry out the factory installation in a short time, indicating that they have toured the preparations being made by the Corporation.
The factory will be built on the corporation’s 10-hectare property located in the Gelan area of the Kaliti sub-district of Addis Ababa city, according to FHC’s social media post.
