Grand Mufti Haji Omar invites South Sudanese counterpart to take part in Ethiopia’s Eid-to-Eid event

Ethiopian ambassador to the Republic of South Sudan, Nebil Mahdi has delivered an invitation letter from the President of the Islamic Affairs Supreme Council of Ethiopia, Grand Mufti Haji Omar Idris to Sheikh Abdallah Barag Rwal, Secretary General of South Sudan Islamic Council, to participate in the Eid-to-Eid Great Ethiopian Homecoming programs.

Recalling Ethiopia’s historical connection with the First Hijira travelers, the Secretary General commended the background of peaceful coexistence of various religious groups in Ethiopia.

He also expressed appreciations for the invitation and stressed the importance of strengthening the relationship between the two Islamic councils.

It is to be recalled that the Eid-to-Eid Great Ethiopian Homecoming opening ceremony was held on Wednesday at Friendship Park in Addis Ababa in the presence of high-level government and religious leaders.
