Int’l experts partake in a conference on transitional justice in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, March 16, 2023 (FBC) – International experts drawn from various countries are currently taking part in a conference underway in Addis Ababa focusing on the transitional justice mechanisms Ethiopia put in place to ensure accountability.

The Ministry of Justice has organized the conference in partnership with the African Union Commission.

Addressing the conference, State Minister of the Justice Ministry, Antenalem Agidew affirmed resolution of the government to make the transitional justice mechanism successful.

Antenalem added that the government has set up a team of independent experts and put in place mechanisms to carry out the tasks bestowed on the group, pledging all the necessary support to its activities.

Director of Governance and Conflict Prevention at the African Union, Patience Zanelie Chiradza, said the AU is ready to contribute for the successfulness of of the transitional justice mechanism.

Patience Zanelie Chiradza stressed need to draw on and apply best experiences of countries who are successful in implementation of transitional justice mechanisms based on the Ethiopian context.
