Iranian delegation concludes to a two-day working visit to Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, January 17, 2025 (FMC) – The Chief Speaker of House of People’s Representatives of Ethiopia (HoPR), Mr. Taggese Chafo, has seen of the Iranian parliamentary delegation, led by Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of the country, Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf, at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport.

It is worth noting that the Iranian delegation has arrived in Addis Ababa on 16th January 2025 for a two-day working visit to Ethiopia and concluded the visit after a series of several high-level discussions with various Ethiopian government officials.

While bidding farewell to the Asian nation’s delegation, Mr. Taggese believes that the discussion between Ethiopian and Iranian parliamentary delegates plays a significant role in bolstering the existing diplomatic relations between Addis Ababa and Tehran.

He also mentioned that the discussions focused on economic, political, and social matters of mutual concern,

During its stay in Addis Ababa, the Iranian delegation has visited the Adwa Victory Memorial Museum and the newly restored National Palace. The delegates have also planted tree seedlings in the Ethiopian capital as a gesture of the close relations between the two historic nations.

The visit is expected to pave the way for greater collaboration and mutual understanding between the two countries, as they work towards strengthening their bilateral relations in various areas.

Ethiopia and Iran enjoy strong cooperation in various sectors including trade, investment, tourism and technology transfer. The visit is a landmark diplomat tour to strengthen bilateral relations of the two historical countries.

Note that the two countries have maintained formal diplomatic relations since 1950.
