Lievin meet turned out to be a good evening for Ethiopian athletes

Addis Ababa, February 20, 2020 (FBC) – Ethiopia’s Getnet Wale won men’s 3000m indoor track held in Lievin, France, clocking 7:32.80, the fastest indoor time for seven years.

Pre-race favorite Selemon Barega was second in 7:33.19. World record holder Samuel Tefera set a world lead of 3:35.54 in the 1500m despite seeming to struggle in the last 2 laps after a hot early pace.

Ethiopia’s world bronze medallist Gudaf Tsegay won the women’s 1500m in 4min 00.60 from compatriots Lemlem Hailu and Axumawit Embaye, who clocked 4:01.57 and 4:03.83 respectively.
