MFA Ethiopia hosts recognition program for stakeholders upon successful completion of 36th AU Summit

Addis Ababa March 15, 2023 (FBC) – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Demeke Mekonnen, hosted a recognition program for stakeholders upon the successful completion of the 36th Ordinary Sessions of the Assembly of the Heads of State and Government and the 42nd Executive Council of the African Union on 14 March 2023 at the Skylight Hotel.

On the recognition program Meles Alem, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that hosting the 36th Ordinary Sessions of the Assembly of the Heads of State and Government and the 42nd Executive Council of the African Union has a great meaning to Ethiopia as the country conducted the continental summit after the Pretoria agreement brokered by the African Union (AU) in the South African capital that brought peaceful and lasting solutions in the country.

“Ethiopia feels pride in successfully completing the 36th Ordinary Sessions of the Assembly of the Heads of State and Government and the 42nd Executive Council of the African Union, the summit is a gift of our forefathers as a founding fathers to this generation, I call up on all to continue the efforts in organizing the summit and protect it by all means there by pushing it to the next level as Ethiopia is a diplomatic center of Africa”, Meles stated.

On the occasion State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Ambassador Mesganu Arega has also awarded certificates of recognition to the Ethiopian national rescue team that travelled to Türkiye to assist in the rescue efforts in the aftermath of the recent catastrophic earthquake.

The recognition program was graced by ministers, other high ranking government officials and invited guests.
