Minister appreciates Alvima’s contribution in creating jobs, replacing imports

Addis Ababa, January 20, 2021 (FBC) –Ethiopia’s Minister of Agriculture Oumer Hussien has held discussion with Dirie Ali, a Djiboutian investor who invested in Ethiopia.

His company, Alvima Foods Complex PLC, is currently engaged in the production and export of pasta to Djibouti and Somaliland, thus generating foreign currency for the country.

The Minister appreciated the role being played by the company in creating employment opportunities, replacing imports of pasts by domestic production and generating foreign currency.

Oumer said the two countries are working closely to encourage Ethio-Djibouti investments, particularly in food production and agro-processing sectors.

He said the government would give all needed support to encourage investment like Alvima Foods Complex PLC.

Commending the support given to him, Dirie Ali expressed his hope that the government would continue to provide support for the big projects he had planned to invest in the future.

The success of Alvima Foods Complex PLC, which was established with an initial capital of $20 million, would encourage other Djiboutian investors to invest in Ethiopia, he said.
