Minister meets with GERD contractors

Addis Ababa, January 21, 2020 (FBC) –Minister of Water, Irrigation and Energy, Dr Seleshi Bekele, met with contractors of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) project.

During the meeting, the contractors presented integrated work schedule reports.

After the meeting, the Minister provided directions to the contractors.

Dr Seleshi provided last Sunday a briefing to Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed on the filling and operation of the dam.

The briefing included key points on hydrology of the river, filling timelines, procedures for the “drought threshold” and mitigation of drought, the coordination mechanisms to manage data and information exchange.

Following the briefing, Prime Minister gave direction and guidance on way forward.
