Mizan Alem wins gold in U20 World Championships Women’s 5,000m

Addis Ababa, August 22, 2021 (FBC) – Ethiopian athlete Mizan Alem has won Women’s 5,000m gold in U20 World Championships under way in Kenya.

Mizan finished the race in 16:05:61 and secured the third gold medal for Ethiopia from the 18th U20 Wold Championships.

Kenyan Cherotich and Cheptoo dropped from the leading pack with four laps to go as Ethiopia’s pair of Mizan Alem and Melknat Wudu injected pace into the race.

In the other 1,500m Women’s race, Ethiopian athlete Diribe Wolteji won silver finishing second.
