More than 227,000 people in Konso in desperate need of humanitarian assistance

Addis Ababa, March 29, 2023 (FBC) – Addis Ababa City Administration has dispatched humanitarian items worth 50 million birr to people affected by drought in Koso Zone, SNNP Region.

The humanitarian assistance which has been raised from investors includes food and non-food items and therapeutic foods and other needed supplies.

Mayor of Addis Ababa, Adanech Abiebie has handed over the humanitarian assistance to INSA Director General, Solomon Soka.

It is stated on the occasion that Konso is one of the areas that have been highly affected by the recurring drought caused by shortage of rainfall for last four consecutive years.

On the occasion, officials indicated that More than 227,000 people in Konso are in desperate need of humanitarian assistance.
