PM Abiy Ahmed, Addis Ababa City leadership discuss ways to address municipal challenges 

Addis Ababa, April 27, 2022 (FBC) – In an effort to address a variety of challenges raised by Addis Ababa residents regarding city issues, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed convened the Addis Ababa City Administration cabinet, where a 9 month report was presented. 

In her report, Mayor of Addis Ababa Adanech Abiebie said that the City Administration has reclaimed over 383 ha of illegally owned lands and addressed 101 land development issues.

Adanech added that the administration created jobs for more than 340,600 residents and collected over 43 million birr revenue during the last nine monthes. She also said the city has been distributing basic consumption items to residents through cooperative unions to mitigate the cost of living in the capital.

The discussion also touched on a number of topics, including service delivery, land grabbing, housing administration, and land management. 

 

Issues that needed to be resolved were highlighted, and the Prime Minister provided further directions.
