President Sahle-Work Zewde urges community to remain vigilant on breast cancer

Addis Ababa, October 30, 2021 (FBC) – President Sahle-Work Zewdw extended a message on breast cancer awareness month.

In her message, the President noted that breast cancer affects women on a high level, adding that patients in Ethiopia go late to health facilities.

“All concerned should be well-informed in order for a preliminary diagnosis to be made and to identify visible breast cancer symptoms in time. For this reason, we have lost many” the President said.

People who come from different parts of the country for radiation and chemotherapy have no place to stay and are exposed to more problems, she indicated.

“To solve the problem, accommodation could be arranged for these patients, transporting them to the health facility, assisting in the purchase of medicines”

The President recently visited the “Pink House” that works with patients. On the occasion, She underlined “By supporting such efforts and similar institutions, we can prevent women from being harmed by receiving timely treatment”

The president urged the community, particularly women, to learn to self-examine, go to the health facility in time and help those in need.
