Prime Minister Abiy wishes all Muslims a happy Eid al-Adha

Addis Ababa, July 19, 2021 (FBC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed expressed best wishes to all Muslims to have a happy Eid al-Adha festival.

The Premier said Eid al-Adha is a festival of obedience and sacrifice. He noted that the holiday marks the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ibrahim as an act of obedience to God’s command.

“Obedience is not an easy task, he said, adding that it needs perseverance and courage. That’s why the history of Prophet Ibrahim has a special connotation in Islamic teachings” he explained.

This year’s Eid al-Adha is unique for Ethiopians for it is celebrated at a time when Ethiopia has overcome various challenges and accomplished the second filling of the GEDR project.

He further urged the faithful to show kindness to the poor and visit the displaced in camps and patients receiving treatments in hospitals while celebrating the Eid al Adha festival.
